Project Description
The Hamlet of Spruce View was identified as a development hub in Red Deer County’s future growth plans as well as served the surrounding area for fire protection. The existing reservoir and treatment facility had reached the end of its available capacity to service the community and the mechanical and process equipment was reaching the end of its service life. Tagish Engineering provided assistance with applying for the SCF (Small Communities Fund) Grant, which the County received approval for in 2015. Tagish then completed the design and procurement process with the newly constructed water storage, distribution, and treatment facility being commissioned in the spring of 2017.
Tagish Engineering completed an analysis of the infrastructure needs for the Hamlet to ensure that storage and distribution were designed to accommodate the present and future needs of Spruce View and Red Deer County. In addition to the water storage and distribution process equipment, well water treatment options were reviewed and procured from a third-party design / build contractor. Tagish was responsible for coordinating and managing all sub-consultants for the multi-discipline project which included structural design, contract third party facility operator, utility coordination, geotechnical engineering, materials testing, HVAC, filtration / treatment, process and electrical. Tagish assembled a very competent team that worked and communicated well throughout the project ensuring project success. The new reservoir was constructed adjacent to the existing reservoir. The existing reservoir is the only facility for the Hamlet and therefore it was critical that it remained operational throughout the entire project.
